ans Hoefer is renowned as the creator and publisher of the award-winning travel guide series Insight Guides or Apa Guides. His debut book published in 1970 on the Indonesian island of Bali combines superb photography and text on the history, culture, cuisine and special topics of the destination. In one sweep it transformed and influenced the publishing scene of travel guides forever.

Now with millions of guide books sold and leaving behind his corporate existence having retired from guidebook publishing, he is about to take on a new creative fulfillment in the world of art and travel through the Internet. He is ably assisted by his wife Cynthia Wee-Hoefer, a former magazine and newspaper journalist (and mother of two ever-curious children) and a group of friends and associates spread out in the world.
